Lately I haven't been able to concentrate on my main watercolor piece at all. DO NOT FEAR THOUGH! I've been producing many random sketches. ^^;; Okey so I guess that isn't the best news in the world, but i don't want to fall behind so I figure practicing on random drawings is ok. Anywho, I was up at 4am yesterday (if anyone doesn't know I have insomnia, don't worry I've had it since I was a kid, but I digress) just sketching. It turned into a drawing of the main character from Vampire Knight (new manga I've been reading, the pictures are REALLY pretty) sitting on the moon. I thought she was really cute and pretty good (considering I need major practice at drawing people in sitting positions) so I decided to color her in. I finished coloring around 9pm tonight and scanned her into my computer. After 2hrs. of fixing her up (my scanner is out to destroy me) she is finally ready to be shown to the world! ^^
P.S. If you want to see the before and after from the scanner check my main blog, there's a link in my profile.

Character: Yuki Cross (Vampire Knight)
Materials: Sketch paper, Prismacolor markers, & Crayola markers.
Edited in: Photoshop
Time taken:4hrs.

Okay! First of all, no apologies needed. The fact that you are hitting a wall and then choose to work on OTHER ARTWORK, rather than go to the mall or lay in the sun does NOT make you a slouch. When you're working, you're WORKING and that's the bottom line.
Next, that whole sleeping thing...yeah...me too. I often see 3 or 4 am. But no one bothers you then so...
I love that you keep "plowing through" with Photoshop! I can't wait to teach you some shortcuts and basic working skills. Don't be discouraged. It will make so much more sense after you worked with it a while. In the meantime you are figuring out what it can do. So keep doing that!
Your image is interesting. It contains a few different applications I think. It also has a very strong format (the decorative edge) that gives it "presence". The color variation in the moon adds a lot of visual strength or "punch". The seated figure is actually pretty well done! Good job! She has a very feminine posture, hands on her lap, leaning slightly forward and just on the edge of her "perch".
I think you are doing really well!
I sense a real commitment to growth, and that is so exciting for me to see. Bravo, my friend!
And yes! Krista will do well. I love that your group has this great sense of confidence. May that continue to grow!
Keep working... :-}
this looks great! you're just whipping these pieces out like crazy
Thanks mama b!
I happy the pose came out right. For some reason I have the most issues when drawing seated positions, so you saying it came out right means a lot.
Photoshop is getting easier as I go along. If you look at the before and after pictures in my personal blog I think you'd see the extent to which I cleaned this picture up. For some reason my scanner always messes things up and I was able to fix a ton of stuff in Photoshop. Oh and I'm beginning to understand the concept of layering in the program, which I think is extremely hard. ^^;;
Right now (as in at this very moment) I'm working on a chibi comic that I told my friends I would do a while ago. I'll finish the leaves on my watercolor after that. I'm so annoyed with those leaves right now.. the effect I want is to have the sun shining through the leaves, but I can't go out to observe in the park because I have a terrible fear of cicadas. I swear if they weren't so grotesque maybe I could appreciate them. Ah well.
