Thank you for taking the time to print out these very detailed instructions. Sometimes it is better to hear information from someone your own age because they see things in a similar way.
You really do impress me with your interest and dedication to both this site and your work.
You will be all the better for it.
Thank you! :-}
Thanks Mama B! I'm just happy to help.
Oh, and I've started my landscape project. It's actually going much faster than I first thought. I'm not sure if this is cheating, but I keep adding water to my acrylic paint to make it more.. manageable. Is that ok to do?
Absolutely! It is meant to be thinned with water!
If you want to achieve some transparencies add polymer medium - you know, like the expensive, professional kind of Mod Podge we use - but NOT name brand Mod Podge, please. It comes in both glossy and matte finishes.
The more of it you add to your acrylic color, the more transparent the color becomes. You can actually make it look layered like a watercolor would but because its acrylic, it has a different appearance.
Liquitex makes some of this medium, as do other companies. You can get it at Michael's and Hobby Lobby. Look for the words "polymer medium" and be sure you get the finish you want - glossy or matte.
Have fun! And Yay! You'll be finished before you know it. Be sure to take a photo of it!
I used transparencies! Haha for the sunset I put a yellow hue on after it was completely dried. ^^
I've been using an acrylic set my parents got me for Christmas. It's from Grumbacher and came with a tube of transparentizer. There
s one thing I'm not sure how to use though. There's a green soap-ish looking thing that I'm pretty sure is made out of wax. Do you know what I'm supposed to use that for?
Honestly, I've never seen that before in a set of acrylics, but it's probably one of 2 things. It might be something that is used for a resist, kind of like the frisket we used for watercolor.
More likely though it's a special soap for thoroughly cleaning out your brushes. Does it get a nice consistency when you add water to it? If so, my guess is that it's a brush cleaner. If it were a resist, it wouldn't mix with water but repel it instead.
Try adding water to it and see how it reacts. Then let me know. Haha. :-}
It's a brush cleaner! That's so useful. ^^
Thanks for your help Mama B!
