okay so i am kind of looking forward to school! actually i really am, i mean its senior year its going to be a lot of fun! the only sad part about summer ending is the cold weather that starts up soon :(
( im really bad at blogging like posting things because i just tend to ramble on and on and my stories are all out of contex so bear with me!)
but ANYWAYS so 11 days! its kinda crunch time for me i have 6 peices completely and i have started on 2, but im still stuck on ideas. i tried to take some of the ideas from the packet and then i added my own twist to them. so i decided since its crunch time i am going to try and get a peice done every 2 days, work on something for 2 days straight and devote my time to it. i love to lay out in the sun and the weather this weekend was so nice like actually NICEEE so i sat in a chair in my backyard and got things done it was really awesome. i know it kind of sounds bad that i have 6 things done. but my mom and i have been going to yard sales and even rummaging through trash ( it might sound gross to some! but i dont care :] ) and finding old chairs, antique chairs, any sort of chair that we can paint on. we get them and my step dad sands them down, then we decide what color to paint the base. and after that its time to just go completely CRAZY. we do designs allllllll over it, different patterns, colors, sketches! they turn out really neat! and we have 5 done. we put them in my backyard in my moms garden because on 2 my mom has cut out the "butt" of the chair and we put a flower pot in it. so they really turn out cool i will post the chairs on here when were done with all of them. but thats pretty much of what my summer has consisted of!
i went to the worlds largest yard sale friday saturday and today! we ended up going all the way down to kentucky it was a lot of fun and i found little treasures everywhere that im going to be working with i just have no idea what for yet though!
welllllllllllllll i hope everyones summer finishes out great and cant wait to actually start class with you all :) :)

I love that you have been painting! And the chairs are a fun surface to embellish.
So I'm thinking you may be doing a bit of painting this year. That's cool. We will start by doing a variety of things so you all have some good things to show the college reps at Portfolio Day.
I will be doing presentations and demonstrations and you will be adapting the information to complete work in your own style. So for now, at the beginning I will be calling the shots. I need to become familiar with the newbies in the class before I feel comfortable letting you just go for it. Don't take that the wrong way. I just want to get to know you so I can guide you better. Everyone is going to have to step up their game!
I look forward to seeing the photos of the chairs. And the "sessions in the sun" sound both enjoyable and productive.
Thank you for connecting with your heart as well. That always makes your art more meaningful.
(Secretly, I am excited too. I sooo look forward to working with this very special and talented group of individuals. This is the kind of class teachers dream of having.)
OH! And btw... if you haven't noticed... I ramble too! See you soon.
i know painting is really kinda scary for me, i really like to use colored pencils, regular pencils and ebony because i feel like i have more control with them obviously and i really need to work on paint though its something i want to master.
and also i was looking at the art acedemy of cincinnati and they have several classes to take and one is a portfolio prep just like our class and its on saturdays for 3 hours i was thinking about taking that just for even more help for this year.. is that a good idea or do you think iw ould be too time consumed with my regular portfolio prep?
and ONE more question.. when is portfolio day anyways? (dumb question probably sorry!)
First rule above all others: "NO QUESTION IS DUMB!
Portfolio Day will be either the last weekend of September or the first weekend of October. They will be mailing us that information soon. Keep both weekends open please - then you'll be fine.
The portfolio class at the Art Academy is definitely a good idea. It will help you make up for "lost time" and give you extra work and practice. Chances are they will also be doing some things we will not. Ask if there will be figure drawing. That means the models will be nude. I want you to be aware of that if it is the case and if you are uncomfortable with that experience (if they even do that for this class) then maybe you can "be absent" for that class.
You will need to budget a lot of time for your art this year if you plan on "doubling up" by taking both classes. It can be done though. However, don't neglect your other classes. We want you do well in those too. Do you have a job? That might help you decide. There are only so many hours in the day. You have to sleep too.
Try to look at your time commitments and map out a mock schedule to see if it is possible FOR YOU, then decide.
Don't let painting scare you. It's just a different way to express yourself. Don't be nervous. I hear you are very talented. You'll be fine. :-}
well thank you :)
but anyways, yes it said in the summary below that their will be figure drawings with nude people and i am totally fine with that i am open to anything i want to get better and better and i think that means trying new things so yep:)
and i do have a job i am trying to save for a car to go away to college but i know for a fact that i am cutting down major hours and i will only probably end up working around 15-20 hours a week and that would only be 3 days a week.
but it was good seeing you today!
You're so cute! Your comments are so random... in a good way. They're just so you. :)
Ok, the job situation sounds fine. I understand that you probably took as much time as you could get this summer; the school year will be different.
I'm glad to hear you're open to new things. The whole figure drawing experience should be viewed as a learning experience. And frankly, everyone I know is so interested in doing a good job that they are more focused on the drawing process and product. Or in other words, how to make the drawing look good. It sounds like you're ready. It's an experience I really enjoy for the opportunity to study form and light. That information transfers to many other things you will draw, which makes it even more valuable.
Good for you, young "grasshopper". You are a great student!
PS. It was good to see you too!
