Watercolor

I went to Micheals the other day to pick up an application. Long story short, I got sidetracked and bought a ton of new stuff.
Most of the stuff I got was for watercolors so I should have some new stuff up on my devart soon.
I've started a piece of Alice from Resident Evil walking down the evil lazer corridors that they had in the Hive. I'm really excited for it so.. yeah just thought I'd share that with all of you.

Sketchfu #1 for me

I couldn't let you girls get too far ahead of me so I logged into Sketchfu this afteroon and made my first entry. It's ok, I guess, but a little too labored. I've got the opacity thing down but I felt I didn't plan my colors as well as I could have. (I was painting from a photo.) After working and reworking some of the areas, I felt it was getting stiff and tired, (as was I) and so I just finished it.
I'm pretty sure I will do more though. It's fun. And watching the mark making is awesome.
OH!...btw...my ID name is hereiam...and yes loudmouth, that was me!

Where is everybody!?

Seriously people.. where are all of you?
I joined sketchfoo, not sure when I'll put my first post up though.
Maybe tonight.. teaching myself Photoshop last week kinda squashed my mojo a bit.
If you want to see some of the stuff I've done on the computer it's on my devart account, which is my website on my profile.
And daretobe, I can't find you on sketchfoo. ='[

I decided Tr!shz!lla was far better than "W1$hY0uW3r3M3". So, we are awesome, aren't we? I'm rather miffed that News 5 didn't put my interview on TV! :(

A Mural Is Unveiled

After months of planning and revisions, and a couple of hurried weeks of painting, the mural was done. This is our part of the new facade designed and painted by area high school students for the Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless building, in Over-The-Rhine. Our image is a tribute to the YWCA's Battered Women's Shelter. It represents the struggle women go through to make a new life after experiencing domestic violence. Seeing it installed was exciting!

Let the Summer Begin! please

So here we are, ready to embark on that great journey, better known as summer vacation.
It's like standing on the edge of a great cliff, looking out at the wonder that fills our eyes and our imaginations. Our bare toes curl around the edge of that cliff, wiggling with the anticipation of what's to come. Dying to spend their time in the normally school-forbidden comfort of flip-flops.
In slightly more than a week, that freedom is ours again. But there is also much to be accomplished, because I have great expectations.
My hope is that you don't succomb to total abandon - although that would be sweet. Instead my urging is to revel in the slower more relaxed ambiance of the warm breezes, getting in touch with your inner voice. Now you have time. There is time to read, time to make art, time to reflect.
Reflect on who you are, where you're going, and how you're going to make that happen.
Yes! You are the one who has that power. You are the one who gets to decide. But once you decide, you have to make it happen. And that's where the fun (and yes frustration) comes into play.
I'm opening this blog in the hope that it will be a way for us to keep in touch with each other during the time we are apart. I am hoping that you each log on and contribute. Tell us all what is happening, what you are doing, what you are making, what you are learning, where you are going. Reading about what each of us is doing should make it easier to get motivated and stay motivated about making art during the summer.
Here's my challenge to you: don't let your paintbrush, your pencil, your journal sit idle. Don't be someone who comes back in the fall wishing she had put time into developing her art. Instead, come into class with a portfolio full of new things to share so that your senior year begins as the exciting, fulfilling and rewarding year it is meant to be.
Right now, you are now on the edge. Do you make the leap? Or do you just stand there?
